About Studio Pic.Nic

Studio Pic.Nic is a visual studio for honest stories about gastronomy, wine and crafts. Created from decades of closeness to people who create something real with their hands, their time and their attitude.

I am Nicolas Spanier. I worked in top restaurants for many years — as a sommelier in houses where precision, respect for the product and uncompromising quality are a matter of course. This period has shaped my view: for details, for processes in the background and for people who are rarely in the limelight but hold everything together.

Proximity instead of staging

Studio PicNic works where real work happens:
in pre-service kitchens, in wine cellars, in fields, in workshops, in the early morning light or late after midnight.
I'm not interested in perfect surfaces, but moments that are true — concentration, tiredness, pride, routine, passion. The camera is not a foreign object, but a silent observer.

Experience from the industry — not from outside

What distinguishes Studio PicNic from classic photo or content studios is the deep understanding of gastronomy and wine from within. I know processes, tensions, hierarchies and the language of the industry. I know when to give space — and when to get closer. This trust is the basis of all work.

Pictures with attitude

Studio PicNic's work is deliberately reduced, quiet and long-lasting.
They should not scream, but stay.
Don't explain, tell. For restaurants, winemakers, producers, magazines and brands that don't want to be interchangeable — and who care about substance, not volume.
